Toggle ItemHow can I officially join BYU Triathlon Club and get involved?Click the big blue "Join The Family" button on the bottom of the page, then hit the green "Join Club" button on the BYU Clubs page, then pay the $15 club dues (for great club swag and parties/activities), and then last but not least, give us a follow on social media! After that, getting involved is easy. Simply come practice, train, and race with us! You'll meet tons of cool people along the way and have many opportunities to be involved with the best peeps on campus.

Toggle ItemShould I join this club if I've never done triathlons before?Absolutely! Most of our club members have done their first triathlon here at BYU so you'll fit right in. Not only that, many of our club members join the club only knowing one or two of the three disciplines (swimming, biking, running). Our club is great for all levels of any of the three sports.
-
Toggle ItemDo you guys have tryouts or can anyone join? No, no, no, no, nooo we do not have tryouts! All levels welcome, anyone can join anytime :)
-
Toggle ItemWhen and where are practices? We meet everyday Monday-Friday at 6am to start the day off right! Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are run practices, and Tuesday, Thursday are swim practices. For run practices we always meet at the George Albert Smith Fieldhouse (SFH). Right out front if it's warm, or just inside the lobby on the northeast corner of the indoor track (main doors east of the main SFH entrance) if it's cold. For swim practices we always meet on the pool deck in the Stephen L. Richards Building (RB).
-
Toggle ItemWhat's a typical practice like?Run practices vary from easy jogs to intermediate track/hill workouts. Swim workouts are posted at the beginning of each practice on the pool deck whiteboard and typically consist of interval work. No need to be intimidated, various club members go at various paces so you'll always have a workout buddy. Nobody left behind! Total duration of both swim and run workouts are generally one hour, but can be easily modified. If you're already an elite triathlete, you'll have a great time (and plenty challenging time) trying to keep up with our best.
-
Toggle ItemWhat should I wear/bring to practices? For run practices bring good running shoes, shorts/general athletic wear. For swim practices any swimsuit will work (as long as it adheres to BYU Honor Code), but you won't regret getting a suit that reduces drag as much as possible. Ex. jammers for men instead of regular swim shorts. Don't spend a bunch of money on gear until you come a couple times!
-
Toggle ItemDoes it cost money to join?Only $15 per (Fall/Winter) semesters. You'll pay those through the BYUSA Clubs website, the exact same page where you joined the club. Please make sure to pay your dues so we can continue to get great club swag and put on awesome club parties/activities! If you're having trouble joining the club, look at the first FAQ!

Toggle ItemDo you guys do any races?Yessss! These are often the highlight of the semester! We generally choose at least one triathlon per semester which we encourage all club members to join. Typically the chosen events are Pumpkinman in Boulder City, NV in October, and Lake Havasu in Lake Havasu City, AZ in March. HOWEVER, it's important to note that we do not attend these events as "BYU Triathlon Club" as clubs at BYU are not sanctioned to travel for liability reasons. Instead, we travel and race independently. We do arrange carpools and split gas/housing costs to make these trips as inexpensive as possible.
